Jobs within Jobs, Whimsical Dresses, & Girl Dinner
You’re a founder. A freelancer. A creative. A leader.
Except some days, you’re also the copywriter, the bookkeeper, the strategist, the customer support rep, and the entire ops department.
Modern entrepreneurship isn’t one job. It’s five.
And even if you love the work, shifting between roles all day — selling in the morning, managing your team and/or clients by noon, designing slides by 3PM — can leave your brain scrambled and your confidence weirdly slippery.
So how do you stay grounded when your job changes every time you open your laptop?
This week, we’re breaking down the hidden jobs within your job — and how to move through them without losing clarity or burning out.
🧠 The CEO (Vision + Decisions)
You’re holding the big picture — setting direction, making calls, saying yes and no. This mode requires confidence, clarity, and often, quiet. It’s hard to access if your brain is still buzzing from Slack or stuck in a spreadsheet.
→ Try blocking CEO hours on your calendar (no calls, no Canva, no context switching).
🎤 The Salesperson (Pitching + Persuading)
Whether you’re writing a launch email, updating your service guide, or hopping on a discovery call, you’re in persuasion mode. Your job here is to advocate for your work and invite people in.
→ Before you switch into this gear, take a beat to reconnect with your value — otherwise it’s easy to undercharge or overexplain.
🎨 The Creator (Execution + Output)
You’re making the thing. Designing, writing, building, fulfilling. You need flow, not feedback.
→ Resist the urge to check email during creative blocks — the shift from output to reaction breaks your focus.
🗂 The Admin (Maintaining + Managing)
Inbox. Invoicing. Asana. Inventory. You’re in logistics mode now. Don’t hate this part — it’s what keeps everything else upright.
→ Timebox the admin. It will expand to fill your whole day if you let it. Consider choosing a recurring monthly or even weekly block of time that you dedicate to these tasks - doing so gets them done on time and stress-free.
🤝 The Collaborator (Connecting + Communicating)
You’re leading a team. Managing clients. Responding to feedback. Holding space. This job can be deeply rewarding (and also quietly draining).
→ Build in buffer time after high-communication days. Leadership is labor, too.
If you’re juggling a dozen roles and craving a little more clarity (and a lot more support), you’re not alone. The job within the job is real — and often invisible.
