Career Math, Route Recalculations & Protein Cheese

A WT/SB member recently told us she’d accepted a full-time role.

Not because freelancing wasn’t working.
Not because she needed saving.
But because, for this season of her life, it was the right strategic move.

What surprised her wasn’t the decision. It was the reaction.

People congratulated her like she’d finally reached safety.
Like autonomy had been a temporary phase.
Like she’d been waiting to be chosen.

But here’s the thing most people don’t understand:

Freelancing vs. full-time isn’t about legitimacy. It’s about math. Not just salary math. Life math.

Full-time roles offer things that matter: healthcare, predictability, infrastructure, sometimes less mental overhead.

Entrepreneurship offers things that matter too: control over your time, income upside, flexibility, ownership.

Neither is inherently better. But they are fundamentally different calculations. And too often, womxn are pressured to make that decision based on fear instead of math.

Fear of instability.
Fear of judgment.
Fear of not looking “successful enough.”

But the right decision isn’t the one that looks safest from the outside. It’s the one where the numbers — financial, emotional, logistical — make sense for you.

Sometimes that means taking the full-time role. Sometimes it means walking away from one. Sometimes it means building something entirely your own.

The power isn’t in choosing one path forever. The power is in understanding what you’re gaining, what you’re giving up, and making the decision consciously.

Not from scarcity. From strategy.

You’re not waiting to be chosen. You’re doing the math.
