4 Times an “A” Player Should Take a “B”

If you're reading this, chances are you're what we call an "A player."

✔️ A high performer.
✔️ Always ahead of the curve.
✔️ The one who sets the standard and raises the bar for everyone around you.

To go into work for yourself, you've got to be all of those things.

But do you need to be all of those things, all the time?

Today we're playing devil's advocate asking you to think about situations where it's ok for you to take a B. As a business owner, it can feel like you need to deliver the absolute best at all times. And that's usually a great trait. Except when it starts impacting your health, your relationships, or your ability to see the bigger picture (and keep building your business).

Here are a few times it's ok for you to settle for a littleless than your best.

1. When recharging is vital – Sometimes, pushing for perfection means burning out. Giving yourself permission to rest when you need to can mean compromising on one or two strategically selected projects instead of only being able to pull C work out of the exhausted husk of your former self on a project that's mission critical to your business.

2. When "good enough" gets the job done – Not everything needs to be a masterpiece. If it meets the goals, sometimes it’s okay to ship it out without nitpicking every detail, especially if it will keep things running smoothly.

3. When "done" is better than "perfect" – Sometimes the consequences of waiting to complete a task are worse than completing it with a little less thought or attention to detail than you would usually put in.

4. When the returns aren't worth the extra effort – Your time is valuable. If a project has diminishing returns, it's okay to cut it off at 80%.

So go ahead and take the B for once. Because knowing you, it's still probably an A- ❤️
